, a Senior Fellow and faculty member with the Carsey School of Public Policy, has been named by President-elect Joe Biden .

Sullivan has been a member of the Master in Public Policy faculty at the Carsey School of the 鶹app since 2018, teaching the required “Policy Across Borders” course. In 2019, he spoke on foreign policy at a Carsey event, “The Future of American Foreign Policy.” Additionally, he has served as a Senior Fellow at the School.

“Jake Sullivan has been a terrific asset to the Carsey School—an exceptional teacher who has brought his hands-on experience at the highest levels of our national government into the classroom, as well as to the Carsey School more generally in his role as a Senior Fellow,” said , Director of the Carsey School. “We look forward to keeping in touch as he takes on this incredibly important role for our country at a very difficult time.”

Sullivan served as Deputy Assistant to President Barack Obama, National Security Advisor to Vice President Biden, Director of Policy Planning in the State Department, and as Deputy Chief of Staff to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He played a key role in the Iran nuclear negotiations during the Obama-Biden administration.

Sullivan earned his undergraduate degree and juris doctor from Yale University and a graduate degree from Oxford University. He has taught and served as a visiting professor at Yale since 2014. He is also a Senior Fellow for the ; a member of the directorial board for the ; and an advisory board member for the , the , and the .
