Internship Programs
Purpose: ÌýGain professionalÌýexperience related to your major or future career.Ìý
Credit:ÌýÌýSeveralÌýinternships are part of a formal study abroad program. A few students organize UNH independent study or practicum credit. There can be no academic credit for internships without a courseÌýcomponent.
Finances: ÌýThose that are for-credit will require program or tuition fees. In these cases, financial aid is available. Financial aid is not available for non-credit internships. While often unpaid, someÌýmay offer other compensation (e.g. room, board, reimburse expenses). Global Education CenterÌýscholarshipsÌýmay be available for internships. Third Party ProviderÌýPrograms
Volunteer Programs
Purpose:ÌýProvide assistance to local communities in areas such as community development, social services, child care, elder care, public health, nature conservation, sustainable development, teaching English, women's empowerment, peace building, etc.
Credit:ÌýÌýNo academic credit, unlessÌýstudent organizes an independent study or participates in part of a service course.
Finances:ÌýÌýUsually unpaid but some may offer compensation (e.g. room & board). Scholarships may be available.
A great way to experience another culture is to immerse yourself by getting involved.Ìý Volunteering for an organization abroad opens up opportunities to make contributions to ongoing projects and find common ground with volunteer colleagues.
